Humans love stories. They are what bind us, guide us and help us make sense of a constantly changing world.
We love stories so much that, sometimes, we even forget that they are, indeed, just stories.
We believe them to be 100% true - so they dictate our lives, thoughts and emotions.
Some of my favourite stories include:
"I should have done more with my life by now"; when there is no set template in a constantly changing world.
"People should see the world like I do"; when we're all trying to make sense of a constantly changing world.
"This pandemic is the worst thing that's ever happened"; when anything's possible in a constantly changing world.
When we remind ourselves that stories are, indeed, stories, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and ways of thinking - and maybe even relieve some of the stress those stories are creating.
We should always be aware of our stories. Are they 100% true?
